Drop-In Learn To Play

Want to try a new sport but you don’t know where to start? We’ll teach you! Join us for the “Learn to play” series, where one of our physical activity facilitators we’ll go over with you, drills, skills, and rules of the game. These sessions are geared towards the beginner level player looking to learn or improve their fundamentals. This program is for U of T students only.

This program requires registration to participate in the sport offerings, details below. Please sign up at: recreation.utoronto.ca. Registration is FREE for incidental fee-paying students enrolled in Fall/Winter courses at U of T.

Current Programming

  • Please visit recreation.utoronto.ca to view and register for our current offerings. 
  • Once registered, please meet our staff in Pink MoveU T-shirts in the main lobby of the facility at the program start time. 

Important Information

No upcoming schedule adjustments. 

  • Participants are asked to wear comfortable and appropriate athletic attire while joining in drop-in activities.  
  • Closed-toed, activity-appropriate footwear is required. Athletic shoes with non-marking soles are required in all indoor drop-in activity areas. Please make sure shoes are free of debris before entering the facility. 
  • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be allowed at anytime. 
  • A shirt is required during all drop-in activities. Jeans and dress pants are not permitted.
  • Sport & Rec staff has final say in determining appropriate clothing

Rentals (valid T-card Required):

  • Squash racquets, basketballs (limited), and volleyballs are available for loan at the Athletic Centre Equipment counter. 
  • Volleyballs and basketballs (limited) are available for loan at the second floor service desk at Goldring Centre.
  • Frisbees are available for loan at Back Campus Fields.
  • Skate rentals and helmets are available for loan during Stick 'n Puck times for a fee of $3.00 +HST for U of T students and $5.00 +HST for non-U of T Students. Skate sharpening is available for a fee $5.00 + HST for UofT students and $8.00+HST for non-UofT students. 

On the ice (Stick n' Puck):

  • Participants must stay clear of the ice until the Zamboni doors are closed
  • Participants must clear the ice at the end of scheduled time or as directed by arena monitor
  • No food, drinks, or gum on the ice
  • Pick-up games are not permitted
  • No slap shots on the boards or the nets and the puck must remain on the ice at all times
  • Hockey stick blade should not leave the ice surface
  • Body checking or engaging in aggressive play is not permitted
