“Sport, Sex and Identity” was held in April 2016 and featured four of the Faculty’s leading researchers who discussed how sport reflects and defines our cultural identity, shapes gender roles and impacts human rights. Mark Tewksbury, best known as an Olympic gold medalist, led the event. Keynote speaker, Bruce Kidd, discussed sex testing in competitive sport. Kidd examined the recent discrimination against Dutee Chand, a female sprinter with naturally high testosterone levels, and her future at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Other speakers included Professors Margaret MacNeill, Michael Atkinson and Caroline Fusco.
