Drop-In Jogging

Come run on our indoor 200m track or our outdoor 400-metre track!

Schedule & Important Information

Athletic Centre - Indoor Track

During some scheduled hours, drop-in jogging has exclusive use of the Athletic Centre track.

During other scheduled hours, drop-in jogging may be shared with registered programming (indicated in the schedule below by "Lanes 1&2 only"). Drop-in participants will have access to lanes 1 and 2 (the inner-most lanes) around the track. This goes down to a single track on the north straight away.

Varsity Centre - Outdoor Track

During scheduled hours, drop-in jogging has exclusive use of the Varsity Centre track.

Outdoor jogging will resume in spring 2026. 

Please be aware that during drop-in hours, no equipment is permitted to be set up on the track.

Upcoming Schedule Adjustments

Please note: In the case of inclement weather, drop-in jogging indoors at the Athletic Centre may forfeit lanes 3-5 to other programming due to outdoor (Varsity Track) closures. Lanes 1 & 2 will remain open for drop-in use. 

  • December 24 to 26: No drop-in programming due to holiday closure. 
  • December 31 to January 1: No drop-in programming due to holiday closure.
  • Saturday, January 3: No drop-in programming in Field House.
  • Monday, February 16: No programming due to Family Day closure.

Eligibility

  • Students: Current students paying incidental fees can access this programming at no additional cost. 
  • Members: Anyone with an active Sport & Rec Membership can access this programming at no additional cost. Day passes are excluded for court bookings. 

Important Information

Equipment & What to Wear
  • Participants are asked to wear comfortable and appropriate athletic attire while joining in drop-in activities. Athletic shoes with non-marking soles are required in all drop-in activity areas.
  • Closed-toed, activity-appropriate footwear is required. Please make sure shoes are free of debris before entering the facility.
  • Socks, barefoot and back-less shoes will not be allowed at anytime.
  • A shirt, tank top or sports bra is required during all drop-in activities.
  • Jeans and dress pants are not permitted.
  • Sport & Rec staff has final say in determining appropriate clothing.
  • Acceptable track spikes:  6 mm pyramids / cones.

Rules & Etiquette

Athletic Centre - Indoor Track

  • Track lanes 1, 2 and 3 are for walking and jogging.
  • Track lanes 4 and 5 are for speed training.
  • For the safety of all, the use of personal music players with headphones/ear buds is not permitted while running on the track at peak times (Monday to Thursday 4 - 9 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.).
  • The track is busy with competitive athletes training at these times; runners are advised to move out of the way when they hear the word "track."
  • 5 laps = 1 km; 8 laps = 1 mile.
  • Please be aware that during drop-in hours, no equipment is permitted to be set up on the track.
  • Please store personal belongings in the lockers in the change rooms. Personal belongings (bags, jackets, boots, etc.) are not permitted in the Field House. 
  • Please review the Athletic Centre Field House Rights and Responsibilities and Varsity Centre Rights and Responsibilities before participating in drop-in programs.
