Eligibility & Pricing:
Students: U of T students paying incidental fees for the current term can access this program for an additional fee.
Members: Anyone who has a current Sport & Rec membership can access this programming for an additional fee.

BOXING FOR FITNESS
Add to your fitness routine and diversify your workouts by learning proven boxing techniques from a Champion! In this non-contact introductory program, you will be exposed to the fundamentals of boxing, which includes specific demonstrations from your instructor along with individual practice and non-contact partner work. Every lesson will build on the last one, so that you can progress your skills with confidence.
We will start class with a proper warm-up then dive into the lesson of the week, which involves different elements of boxing and fitness, such as footwork drills, technical punching exercises, defensive movements, partner work, conditioning circuits, and more!
By the end of this program, you will have mastered basic form and skills with the confidence to join any boxing class with a solid foundation of knowledge and technique.
This program is open to all members. No previous experience is necessary. All equipment provided.
Program capacity: 24 participants
Winter 2025 Session Period: Tues. January 21 to Tues. March 4 2025 (6 sessions).
No classes will take place on Tues. February 18th, 2025
BOXING FOR FITNESS WOMEN-ONLY
Add to your fitness routine and diversify your workouts by learning proven boxing techniques from a Champion! BOXING FOR FITNESS (Mixed Levels)
Take your boxing skills and physical conditioning to the next level with this non-contact mixed-levels boxing program with a Champion!
Building on what you have learned in the introductory-level, Boxing for Fitness, the coach will incorporate more complicated combinations involving footwork and defensive moves, plus more intense conditioning circuits to help you dig deeper and find that complete fighter within. The program will begin with a review of fundamental punching and footwork technique, then quickly progress to learning different boxing combinations that are more complex and advanced.
This program is open to all members. All equipment is provided. To maximize the benefits and intensity of the program, previous experience is preferred.
Experience prerequisites accepted include one of the following:
- Completion of Boxing for Fitness (previously called, Boxing Level 1) with Coach Yvette;
- A background in martial arts, including taekwondo or karate;
- Experience playing another sport that requires footwork and coordination; and/or
- Currently and consistently working out on your own.
No matter your experience level with boxing, the coach will work with you to meet your needs and demands, and will tailor the program appropriately to challenge you to progress to the next level!

Equipment Needed and What to Wear
All equipment will be provided, including gloves, hand wraps, skipping ropes, and more!
No special clothing is required. Wear something you can move comfortably in. Wear comfortable closed-toe and athletic shoes.

Registration and Cancellation Policy
Members are required to register for this program at an additional cost via https://recreation.utoronto.ca/
Participants are able to register up until the start of the 2nd class.
Participants are able to request a class transfer up until the start of the 2nd class.
Participants are able to request a cancellation and refund up until the start of 2nd class. Participants will be refunded the full amount less a cancellation fee of 10% or $5 - whichever is greater - for each withdrawn registration.
