All recognized U of T student clubs and groups may apply to rent facilities at the Athletic Centre, Goldring Centre and Varsity Centre.
Please note that Student Group facility rentals are for use by recognized U of T student clubs/groups. Use of our facilities cannot be transferred to a non-university group.
KPE offers three distinct types of bookings for Student Groups looking for a space to call their own: ongoing bookings in studios and conditioning spaces, one-time bookings on the field, gyms and classrooms and tabling opportunities in our lobbies.

- All participants using Student Group Access times must have access to the Sport and Rec facilities, either as U of T students, members or with a guest pass.
- Groups may be required to pay a $100 damage deposit, which is fully refundable if there is no damage and all conditions are met.
- Groups must use the time booked or cancel with a minimum of 48 hours written
notice to sportandrec@utoronto.ca. - Groups must arrive and depart on time, using authorized entrances and exits. Groups who are late arriving by 15 minutes may forfeit their time.
- Groups are responsible for ensuring that KPE values of equity and diversity, respect, integrity, leadership and excellence are respected and upheld at all times.
- Groups must have a designated first aid person for each space booked (lobbies excepted). Proof of Standard First Aid and CPR-C must be provided at the time of booking and the individual must be present throughout the activity. More information about accepted levels and expiry dates for certifications is found at the end of this document.
- The maximum and
minimum number of participants must be adhered to. - Student groups are responsible for ensuring the facility remains clean and undamaged.
- Participants and leaders must adhere to the rights and responsibilities posted in each space. Leaders will be required to sign off on rights and responsibilities as part of the booking.
- Martial arts and designated high-risk sports including rugby and football are not eligible to request space under the Student Group Access program.
- Self-defense workshops and courses require approval and may take longer than 10 business days, please apply early.
- Rental groups are not permitted to generate a profit from the space bookings. If you are charging a registration fee to participate please contact the facility scheduling coordinator to discuss. Please indicate any sponsorships the club is receiving
in the note text of the application form. - Groups must remain in good standing, having met all the conditions identified above in order to request space for future bookings.
Ongoing bookings are available to student groups looking for a regular time for fitness, strength, dance or movement practice times. There is no charge for these ongoing bookings. Offered October – December and January – April.
A lottery may be held if multiple groups are requesting the same time/space. Hours allotted to a single club may be limited based on demand and are subject to change.

Ensuring that a leader from your group is prepared to respond in an emergency is critical. A member with a valid Standard First Aid, issued within the last three years and a valid CPR-C/Basic Rescuer, issued within the last 12 months, must be present for the entire length of your booking. KPE accepts certifications issued by the Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, Lifesaving Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation. Other certifying bodies are not accepted.
If student groups are not able to provide a first aid / CPR certified leader, they may request one from KPE staff. There is a charge for this service and a minimum of ten business days is required.
Keys and equipment can only be signed out and given to the individual who provides First Aid CPR to ensure that onsite supervision is provided at every session.
Additional certifications including fitness, strength or
Tabling does not require leaders to be certified.
