Top 10 tips to get active before Thanksgiving

Start the school year off right – get moving, de-stress, boost your concentration and have fun! Check out our sport and recreation programs open to all U of T students, faculty and staff. The options are endless – from aquatics to Zumba – we have something for everyone. 

1. MoveU Play Day (September 15, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) 

Water fights and parachute games aren’t just for kids! Meet on the Back Campus Fields to enjoy a fun-filled day with obstacle courses, Nerf archery, giant Jenga, Bootcamp challenges and hamster balls. Drop by for ten minutes or play all day!



2. Fun Friday Bubble Soccer (September 16, 6 – 8 p.m.) 
Learn how to roll with it at Fun Friday Bubble Soccer. Flip head over heels in a giant air bubble, bounce off new friends and have fun.

 



3. Blues Backstage: Football (September 17, 11 a.m.) 
Get close to the action! Learn about the history, rules and culture of Blues football with a behind-the-scenes experience. Finish off the afternoon by cheering on the Varsity Blues in their battle against the York Lions.



4. MoveU Zombie Skate (September 22, 7 – 8:30 p.m.) 
Why wait until Halloween to put on your spookiest zombie costume? Head to the Varsity Centre and hit the ice with the “skating” dead. Free equipment rentals, including helmets are available. Protect your brain!
 



5. Fall 4K Fun Run (September 25, 10 a.m.) 
Want to stretch your legs while exploring the campus and community?  Meet fellow running enthusiasts on this fast and scenic course. Register at the Hart House Information Hub.




6. Registered Classes (classes start Sept. 26) 
Try out one of our many registered classes, including basic skating and tennis. Don’t have equipment? No problem – we have convenient skate and helmet rentals, and tennis racquets for tennis instruction. Classes fill quickly – register now!




7. Drop-in Classes (offered year-round) 
Looking for convenience? Drop in to one of our many group fitness classes – from Bootcamp to Aquafit and meditation with Mindful Moments.




8. Strength and Conditioning Orientations (offered first half of each term) 

Want to increase your strength and stamina but not sure where to start? Sign up for a strength and conditioning orientation session at the Athletic Centre and Goldring Centre. Make sure to reserve your spot by signing up 24 hours in advance. All sessions are free!



9. Intramurals (offered year-round)
Join an Intramural league or tournament. Whether you want to play table tennis, badminton, innertube water polo, kickball or soccer, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. Connect with your college or faculty sports representative here!
 



10. Book a MoveU Moment Classroom Break (offered year-round) 

Want to boost your concentration in class? Take a break with a MoveU Moment! The MoveU Crew, a student-led initiative, will lead you through simple exercises and stretches. Talk to your prof or TA and ask them to book your MoveU break at moveucrew@utoronto.ca
