Welcome to the 2017/18 academic year. This is a wonderful time to be a student, faculty or staff member at U of T.

Our Faculty’s mission is to develop, advance and disseminate knowledge about physical activity, health and their interactions through education, research, leadership and the provision of opportunity. We deliver this mission through the synergies among the outstanding research, education and broad spectrum of co-curricular physical activity and sport programs that are all resident within the Faculty.

Our record was reflected in this year’s QS World University Rankings, which placed the University of Toronto programs in kinesiology, physical education, and sport and exercise sciences sixth in the world. This important recognition is indicative of the growing global relevance of the discipline of kinesiology, and serves as further incentive for our Faculty to continue the steady progress we are making against the priorities set out in our Strategic Academic Plan.

Whether you are enrolled in the Faculty’s undergraduate or graduate degree programs in kinesiology, physical education and exercise science, inquiring about facilities and programs available for recreation and active healthy living, or exploring the opportunities to excel as a Varsity Blue, I am confident that you will find the inspiration and support you need.

Our staff and faculty worked tirelessly over the summer to fine-tune the curricular and co-curricular programs and infrastructure that the Faculty provides to the entire U of T community and to ensure that our students have the best possible university experience.

I am excited about the many memorable experiences this new academic year has in store and look forward to sharing them with you.
