Summary:

Position Description: Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Customer & Membership Service, the Pavilion Monitor provides a wide range if administrative duties including but not limited to access control; reception for administrative, facility and intercollegiate staff located in the Varsity Centre; guest pass sales; processing Intramural transactions, program registrations and providing general information on the Faculty Continuum of programs and events taking place at the Varsity Centre.

As Pavilion Monitor, the incumbent provides administrative support for the Intramural program by answering questions, providing basic information or directing people to the Intramural office for more detailed information, distributing and receiving materials and equipment as needed for the intramural program, and conducting limited financial transactions in support of the intramural program.

The Intercollegiate program is supported by providing schedules, providing general information about the sports and referring people to the specific coaches for more detailed information.

General information and registration services are provided for the Instruction and Junior Blues and Camp U of T programs.

The Pavilion Monitor works cooperatively with staff from other Faculty departments, communicates in person, by phone or email with students, members, guests, all the coaches, facility and administrative staff to ensure the most up to date information is available for distribution and customer service at the Pavilion counter is of high quality.

The successful candidate must be able to deal with difficult situations with students and members of the public and troubleshoot when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Minimum high school diploma achieved.  Full time University of Toronto students preferred.

Experience: Customer service and credit/debit transactions handling experience is required.  Must be comfortable working with the public in a high volume, fast-paced environment.  Experience with Fusion software is an asset.

Other: Must be able to work evening and weekends as well as weekdays.  Shifts could begin as early as 6:30 a.m. and end at 12:00 a.m. Excellent communication skills (oral and written), strong interpersonal, problem solving, diplomacy skills and a proven ability to collaborate and participate effectively within a team; understanding of diversity and equity issues.

Must have successfully completed a current recognized Standard First Aid/CPR/AED certificate within the probation period.
