Introducing the KINship Hub!
A new initiative organized by KPE’s Office of Registrar & Student Services, the KINship Hub is a great way to connect with fellow kinesiology students and enrich your understanding of equity, diversity & inclusion.
The KINship Hub will be open every Tuesday from 3 – 4:30 p.m. and is located in the Warren Stevens Building (a.k.a the Athletic Centre), in Room WS2007. Come by and discover new ideas, try new activities and connect with new people!
Here’s what you can expect at the KINship Hub for October:
October 1: (Grad) Equity Talks: Sport & Media
While media serves as a form of entertainment, it also shapes and reflects our understanding of the world. Join us for a facilitated discussion about the impact of media representation from a sport perspective. We will discuss who is represented in sport and how it shapes our perception of belonging.
Topics of discussion include:
- Who gets represented in sport media? How do representation in sport shape our ideas of what an athlete looks like?
- How do racism and sexism show up in sports media?
- How can we challenge assumptions of who belongs in sport and physical activity?

October 21: Group Advising: What is Grad School Really Like?
Are you a KPE undergraduate student who is considering graduate school? Join us for this group advising session where we'll discuss what you can expect at graduate school. There will be current graduate students present who will speak to what their experience in graduate school has been like.
All students from all years are invited to attend this session, however upper year students are especially encouraged.
