KPE's Associate Dean of Research Luc Tremblay, Executive Director of Athletics & Co-Curricular Physical Activity Beth Ali, and Co-Curricular Business Officer Sherry Ing were each recognized with a True Blue Award for their invaluable contributions to the University of Toronto.

Introduced in the fall of 2016, the True Blue Awards recognize staff and faculty members who make meaningful connection with others, provide guidance that makes a difference, create a sense of community that fosters diversity and inclusion, demonstrate genuine caring for others, conduct their daily work with the utmost care and make the University great every day just by being here.

Nominators for Tremblay praised his appreciation for independence and creativity, which has allowed staff members to live up to their full potential.

“Luc understands that his colleagues and coworkers are people and makes a genuine effort to know them at a personal level. He makes U of T a better place and we are grateful to work with him,” said Marisol D’Andrea and Gerome Manson.

Katherine Lonergan was mentored by Ali in her role of Co-Chair of the Council of Athletics and Recreation. In her nomination, she wrote that Ali fostered an environment that has allowed her and her co-chair to develop their professional leadership skills and decision-making ability in a way that integrates multiple perspectives.

"I consider her a great role model as I look to establish a leadership role in my own career,” she said.

Sherry Ing was nominated by Melissa Krist who described Ing as being so utterly efficient in providing quick turnarounds for last minute itinerary changes, weekly expense reimbursements and answers to financial questions, "the Varsity Blue coaches will tell you that they wouldn’t know what to do without her. 'Ask Sherry' is the common response."

“She loves the Varsity Blues family and being part of U of T, and will always go the extra mile to support the team.”

A celebratory event for all ‘True Bluers’ is planned for November 2017. Congratulations!
