Celebrate spring with an urban hike from Sport & Rec, in partnership with Let's Hike T.O.!

Welcome to the High Park Sakura Season Stroll! High Park is a beautiful park not far from downtown toronto, with large natural areas, maintained parkland, and recreational facilities. At this time of year, we hope to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, so be ready to take some cool photos!

The route is approximately 6 km, consisting of paved and unpaved terrain. This hike is dog (on-leash) and family friendly.

Start end end points. We'll start the hike at Keele subway station, near the Keele St entrance, and end the hike at the Grenadier Cafe in High Park. From there, option to stay for lunch or coffee with the group at the cafe, head home (about a 15-minute walk to the subway), or enjoy and explore the park on your own (pssst - there's a zoo, if you're interested in checking it out).

What to bring. We encourage you to bring a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and a fully charged phone or camera for photos (and maybe some snacks for the walk!). If it turns out to be a wet day, or has been raining a lot lately, the area by the pond tends to get pretty muddy, so you may want to leave those white sneakers at home. Please also bring rain gear if it is in the forecast as it is a rain or shine hike!

Let's Hike T.O. is a hiking community open to everyone with a focus on people of colour, newcomers, and young adults (20-40) - that's you! Let's Hike T.O. has partnered with the University of Toronto Sports & Rec to offer monthly hikes throughout the fall, spring and summer. These special hikes will leave from around the St. George Campus and will take students on a journey through local streets, green spaces, and ravines.

You're invited to come connect, learn, build community and friendships, and enjoy gentle movement outdoors together. Register today as spots are limited! Further details and reminders will be emailed to registrants before the hike.
