Introducing our new UTTC Coach!

University of Toronto Sport and Rec is pleased to announce that Colleen Dotson will be the new head coach of the University of Toronto Track and Field Club (UTTC).

Effective October 12, 2021

“Success is nothing without opportunity,” said Beth Ali, executive director, athletics and physical activity. “To be successful, the young aspiring student-athletes in our community deserve an opportunity to participate in a world-class sport development program and Colleen’s vision aligns perfectly with that goal. She truly understands the value of development programs such as this and has the knowledge and expertise to implement a wholesome plan for the evolution of an athlete’s career as Sport and Rec is commitment to sport and fitness at all stages of life.”

The Brampton, Ont., native, will be responsible for overseeing all facets of UTTC, including athlete development and recruitment, sport science management, human and financial resource management and community outreach and development. She will be accountable for the ongoing development of our high performance athletes training for provincial, national and international podiums.

Dotson will design and implement a sport development plan that includes the buildout of recreation and high-performance participants at both the youth and adult level, which includes an evolutionary plan for our masters program.  The goal is to position U of T at a competitive level to achieve provincial and national prominence in the sport and to contribute to the overall personal growth of all of our participants.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to give back to a program that has given so much to me,” said Dotson. “U of T is where my love of athletics began and UTTC played such an instrumental role in my development individually and professionally. I am really looking forward to working alongside an amazing team to continue to build upon a legacy of excellence and community.”

Dotson, a member of UTTC for six seasons, comes back to the University of Toronto from York University where she was most recently the head coach of their track and field club, overseeing the coordination and operation of track club and inter-university programs, developing yearly training plans for athletes, ensuring most consistent team performances in 30 years. An NCCP certified sport coach, she was also a practicum course instructor in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science Company.
