Healthy endurance trained males, 18-40 years of age, currently running 40 km/wk

The Faculty is conducting a study to determine amino acid requirements in endurance-trained young men. We will be using a novel and non-invasive method to determine what amino acid is more important for endurance-trained athletes.

Who can participate?

We are looking for healthy and endurance-trained males aged 18-40 who regularly run at least 40 km/wk

What's involved?

VISIT 1

*At Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport (GC) at the University of Toronto (~1.5h)

  • Introduction to the study
  • Signing of consent form
  • Activity / Health Questionnaires

VISIT 2

*At the Goldring Centre (~4h)

  • Body composition measurements following overnight fasting (at least 7hours)
  • Fitness Assessment
  • 16-km treadmill familiarization run

VISITS 3-6

*At the Goldring Centre (~10h per visit)

  • Controlled diet and training for 2 days
  • Liquid breakfast before a 20-km treadmill run
  • Hourly drinks over 8h
  • Breath and urine collection throughout Supervised leisure time during recovery
