Q&A

What kind of spaces and equipment do you have?
  • The Strength Conditioning Centre (SCC) is a 4-tier physical activity space, spanning the second and third floor of Goldring Centre, with equipment such as squat racks, free weights, strength and cardio equipment, and a turf lane. The SCC will be open to explore and exercise, with certain areas reserved for our resistance training classes.
  • The Speed and Power Centre (SPC), located on the third floor of Goldring Centre, and/or on the top tier of the SCC, hosts some Olympic weightlifting equipment and platforms. For this event, this space will host our Olympic Weightlifting classes, and be available for drop-in use around those scheduled class times. Regularily, this space is available for drop-in use when not booked by a class or program.
  • The Fitness Studio (FS), also located on the third floor of Goldring Centre, and/or on the top tier of the SCC, is a multi-purpose studio, designed for dance, yoga, and other indoor activities. For this event, this space will host our Fitness Classes. Regularily, this space is available for drop-in use when not booked by a class or program.
What do the locations mean?

The "SCC" or "Strength and Conditioning Centre" is what we call our main fitness space. It spans the second and third floor of Goldring Centre, and we call each level a "tier" or "T". There are four tiers, with Tier One (T1) being the bottom tier equal to the second floor, and Tier Four (T4) being the highest tier on the third floor. Tier 2 and 3 (T2 and T3) lie somewhere inbetween.

Each Tier is then further split up into quadrants, or four parts, that we label A, B, C and D. A is the end closest to the elevator, and D is the furthest end close to the opposite wall.

So for example, when you see T4A, that means the fouth tier (top tier, third floor) in the area closest to the elevators. Or when you see T1 BC, that means tier one (bottoms tier, second floor), in the middle two quadrants.

Our space is split into Tiers, we label them "T". "T1" is the first tier on the second floor, and each level up is another tier, all the way up to T4 on the third floor. Each tier is then furhter split into A B and C, A being closest to the elevators, and C being furhest to the opposite wall. So "T1 BC" is the first (lowest) tier, from about the middle of it to the far wall, whereas T4C is the fourth, or highest, tier closest to the elevators.

SPC (Speed and Power Centre) is on the third floor/T4 of Goldring, about mid-way down the tier, past the first couple squat racks. Look for an (open) glass entrance door, or a break in the mirrors. There's usually a white board out-front of the space too!

The Fitness Studio is also on the third floor/T4, right across from the elevators (and a shimmy to the left). Glass encased room with a wooden floor.

If you're ever unsure, ask a staff member! They'll happily show you to the right place.
