Female Volunteers Needed for a Non-Invasive
‘Breath-Test’ Research Study
PURPOSE
To validate the use of a non-invasive ‘breath test’ by determining the impact of protein feeding alone or combined with resistance exercise on the body’s ability to use dietary protein.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
- Healthy, young females (18-35 years)
- Eumenorrheic (experiencing regular periods for at least the past 3 months)
- BMI ≥18.5 kg/m2 and ≤ 30 kg/m2
- Recreationally active, currently performing structured exercise (e.g., running, weightlifting, team-sport activity) at least once per week for ≥ 6 months before enrolment
- Abstain from the use of oral contraceptives
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
- 3 in person-sessions (~15 hours total)
- Body composition assessment and resistance exercise familiarization
- Full-body resistance exercise (one session)
- Consumption of a protein beverage (two sessions)
- Breath sampling (two sessions)
- Urine Sampling (two sessions)
