Female Volunteers Needed for a Non-Invasive

‘Breath-Test’ Research Study

 

PURPOSE

To validate the use of a non-invasive ‘breath test’ by determining the impact of protein feeding alone or combined with resistance exercise on the body’s ability to use dietary protein.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

  • Healthy, young females (18-35 years)
  • Eumenorrheic (experiencing regular periods for at least the past 3 months)
  • BMI ≥18.5 kg/m2 and ≤ 30 kg/m2
  • Recreationally active, currently performing structured exercise (e.g., running, weightlifting, team-sport activity) at least once per week for ≥ 6 months before enrolment
  • Abstain from the use of oral contraceptives

 

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

  • 3 in person-sessions (~15 hours total)
    • Body composition assessment and resistance exercise familiarization
    • Full-body resistance exercise (one session)
    • Consumption of a protein beverage (two sessions)
    • Breath sampling (two sessions)
    • Urine Sampling (two sessions)

  • The Iovate/Muscletech Metabolism and Sports Science Lab at the University of Toronto’s Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport
