Female Oral Contraceptive Users Needed for a Sports Nutrition Study

PURPOSE:

To determine your body’s ability to use dietary protein at rest or following resistance exercise using a non-invasive ‘breath test.’

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

• Healthy, young females (18-35 years)
• Monophasic oral contraceptive users (any brand)
• BMI ≥18.5 kg/m2 and ≤ 30 kg/m2
• Recreationally active, currently performing structured exercise (e.g., running, weightlifting, team-sport activity) at least once per week for ≥ 6 months before enrolment

WHAT’S INVOLVED?

3 in-person sessions (~15 hours total)
o Body composition assessment and strength testing
o Full-body resistance exercise (one session)
o Consumption of a protein beverage (two sessions)
o Breath and urine sampling to assess how your body metabolizes protein (two sessions)
