How is talent in sport defined, measured and supported? Perspectives may vary from researchers to coaches to scouts to parents. On November 19, you can join the conversation by tuning into a free webinar hosted by the University of Toronto Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education that aims to tackle some of the complexities surrounding this question.
A part of the ongoing KPE Science Café series, the event will feature KPE researchers specializing in sport analytics and sensorimotor control, Professors Joe Baker and Luc Tremblay, respectively; senior director of research & development at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Devin Pleuler; director of performance pathways at the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario James Brough; and hockey research & development analyst at the Toronto Maple Leafs Lou Farah.
In anticipation of the webinar, we invite you to look back at a unique experiment designed by Baker and senior research associate Kathryn Johnston that aimed to reveal what coaches and scouts really look for in an athlete and how they make their high-stakes decisions.
