Cheer Instructor

Summary:

 

The Cheer Instructor is responsible for assessing their participants and for the general safety, security and enjoyment of cheer for participants in the program. We are looking for responsible, energetic and creative people.

Duties include:

  • Assessment of participants’ skill level
  • Program planning
  • Supervision of cheer training for 15-30 participants
  • This supervision includes making sure that during high risk practices there is a Level 2 NCCP certified gymnastics instructor present and clinic trainer
  • Supervising and running warm ups  
  • Ensuring facilities and equipment are prepared for all activities by performing risk management checks on the facility.
  • Ensuring completion of all administrative paperwork including lesson plans, accident reports, return-to-play paperwork and protocols
  • Responsible for building and maintaining positive group dynamics and  ensuring that all participants, learn and enjoy their time in the  program
  • Ensuring that all participants are treated with fairness, respect and understanding
  • Ensuring that all facility and program rules are met
  • Ensuring that they are in compliance with all KPE policies and procedures

 

As an employee of the Faculty you will be responsible for knowing and understanding the emergency evacuation procedures and risk management responsibilities relevant to the position and its location within the faculty. You will also be responsible for completing pay sheets fully and accurately according to the payroll schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  N/A

 

 

Experience:  

 

Legally able to work in Canada. Upon hiring all candidates must provide copy of their SIN card and any work visas if appropriate.  Must be 16 years of age or older.

 

A minimum of one year coaching experience.

 

  • Demonstrated experience in the sport of gymnastics or cheerleading.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or leadership.
  • Responsible, energetic, excellent customer service skills, adaptability and strong teamwork skills are required.
  • Ability to work with people with diverse abilities, ethnicities and sexual orientations is essential.

 

Certifications Required:

  • Standard First Aid certificate issued by Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance or Lifesaving Society (Must be up to date)
  • Basic Rescuer/Level C CPR certificate (Must be up to date)

Mandatory Training

  • Must show proof of having completed Health and Safety training
  • AODA training
  • In-house ERT 2 training for all staff with first aid as a job requirement (one-time only)
  • Club coaches meeting and site specific trainings as communicated by email by Nick Snow
