Ischemic Preconditioning (IPC): Methodological Manipulations
Eligibility
- Healthy Females and Males ages 18-40 years old
- Participants must be active
≥ 3 days/week in lower body resistance or cardiovascular exercise
- e.g., strength training, CrossFit, cycling, running etc.
- Non-smoker/non-vaping
- Non-hypertensive
- Not taking Medications (neither prescribed nor over-the-counter)
- Free of illness (seasonal or infection i.e. seasonal cold, influenza)
- Must have 3-valid doses of Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine
Requirement
- Visit the laboratory on four separate occasions in the Clara Benson Building/Athletic Centre (55 Harbord Street) for ~2 hours each visit
- Application of inflated tourniquets to both of the lower limbs during 3 visits
- Participate in a V
o 2 max (testing maximal aerobic effort), and 10 min cycle time trial tests
- Fingertip blood sampling
